Common Small Business Complaints - Good Help is Difficult to find

Finding good assistance is a typical complaint among small business owners. Many owners believe that they must constantly supervise the activities of employees. Obviously, this can be very time consuming and may greatly restrict your ability to pay attention to growing your company.

As a business proprietor, you realize the result or result you would like. You also know which actions will lead to that result. For this reason you often baby sit your employees, or perform the work yourself- you are aware how to get the desired results. But this creates a tremendous burden on your some time and energies. You lament that if employees would function things exactly the same way you would, you'd have time to attend to other tasks. The solution would be to develop procedures for each task- that is, the steps required to attain the desired result. Once the procedure is followed, it makes sense known.

Whenever a business includes a comprehensive group of procedures, and those procedures are trained and followed, the results are consistent. Quite simply, procedures will give you employees the instructions necessary to perform a task the same way the dog owner would. The dog owner no longer needs to baby sit- he offers the necessary direction and training, and allows the worker to be accountable for implementation.
There are lots of good workers available. The secret is to locate them and supply them with a culture that meets their needs-both financially and psychologically. Employees want more than simply a pay check-they want to feel appreciated and enjoy their work.
Finding the right employees could be time intensive. But when systems are produced for the hiring process, desirable results are more likely to be performed. If you simply hire at random- e.g., the man who shows up-you will not make a good hire. But when you've got a process to promote for employees, for interviewing, etc. you'll greatly increase your chances of getting a good employee.
